So here’s the deal: I now have my own Flair (a beautiful matte white Flair Signature from Etica Lifestyle); I want to use it every day; and I exert too much effort using it that I just want to drink good, no-fuss coffee the rest of the day. I wish I have an automatic coffee maker – oh wait, I have an OXO Brew Pour Over Coffee Maker with water tank so I’m good. Let’s discuss.
It’s almost the end of the year, and of course it’s year-end review time – hooray (read that in the most sarcastic voice you can imagine). 2020 was the most consistent year for shareyourkape.com, talking about blog post frequency. So, it’s not surprising that it has also been the year with the most views (2019 was not even close). In previous years, the first part of my Instant Coffee series was my most viewed post. This year, by a landslide, it has been “My (unqualified) thoughts about the Timemore Chestnut C2 Grinder” which was only published this June 2022.
Espresso is a special thing. It sometimes makes an otherwise bad day better, it can make business decisions clearer, and it helps give us those darn beautiful IG worthy latte art. I have been able to get decent coffee at home ever since lockdown started, I have been able to make espresso like drinks with an Aeropress, but proper espresso I thought I would only get when I venture out the house (and Cainta) again. Then Etica Lifestyle messaged me on Instagram and asked me if I wanted to try pulling shots of espresso at home with a Flair Epresso Maker. This isn’t a review, I am not qualified to do one, these are just my thoughts about it as a coffee consumer.

There has always been something I wanted to try on my own ever since I got my Timemore Chestnut C2 grinder: grinding beans for espresso for an actual espresso maker. I have tried grinding beans for Aeropresso, going as fine as 10 clicks on the Timemore C2, but it’s different when you have to make proper espresso. Well, I was offered by Etica Lifetstyle to try out a Flair Signature for a week and now I can finally find out for myself if a Timemore C2 can actually – well at least for a Flair Espresso Maker.

I think me posting that I was still satisfied with my Hario MM-2 small wooden grinder on April 24, 2020 and then ordering a Timemore Chestnut C2 grinder only weeks later – that sums up how quickly upgrades on home brewing gear has been during the Enhanced Community Quarantine for everyone. If you’ve been reading this blog, you already know I’m just a coffee consumer so take whatever my thoughts/opinions are about this grinder with a grain of salt, or coffee if you want to be cheeky about it.
