An Amazon Prime Video series, and then I try to connect coffee to it

Have you watched Amazon Prime Video’s series (a monthly subscription is cheaper than Netflix), The Boys? It’s a parody on the superhero genre where the superheroes know they’re better than normal people and thus know how to abuse their powers. We all like superhero movies (when done right) but think about those storylines where some government agency is concerned about these overpowered individuals and who will stop them when they go rogue or when someone points out how they aren’t thinking about the collateral damage they cause when doing their super hero stuff.

Just some light rambling ahead

Coffee On-demand?

UK-based Sandwich Empire Pret a Manger (or simply Pret) has rolled-out a new monthly coffee subscription service. This coffee subscription, from a sandwich shop, allows members to get cups of coffee everyday (capped at a certain number per day) by just paying an upfront amount once every month. American Sandwich shop, Panera bread, also came up with something like this only difference was that it was rolled out before the pandemic we are currently going through. Heck, now even Leon (healthy food shop also based in the UK) has also rolled out a coffee subscription service – reportedly even cheaper than Pret’s.

You’ve probably heard before that smartphone cameras have gotten to a point that you can use it for professional purposes. Well, my friends, I can attest to this because I have actually used an iPhone 6’s (iPhone 6, not iPhone 6s just to be clear or unless you didn’t notice the apostrophe) camera to shoot a short film – an award winning short film in fact. (There will be something about coffee later).

Here’s another one, whether you agree with it or not and decide to follow, that’s up to you. I just need to write content for this blog, so…

Do you need a TDS meter for coffee at home? Not really, but they’re not too expensive anyway

Focus but not the kind that coffee helps you to do

The world (as of this writing) is just starting to get back to normal – or at least parts of it. The Philippines, where I live, has relaxed some restrictions. The country had to undergo one of the longest lockdowns in the world, and so we’ve seen an increase in people interested to brew at home. I am one of them. I even have a jug that filters water just for my coffee, and a meter to test if it’s still working. The TDS meter, BTW, helps because I know I don’t have to change the filter yet because the water still has the same TDS. However, this also tells me that there wasn’t that much need for the filter because apparently my water was soft enough anyway. In any case, it’s an additional filtration system for water so better safe than sorry I guess?
