It’s almost the end of the year, and of course it’s year-end review time – hooray (read that in the most sarcastic voice you can imagine). 2020 was the most consistent year for shareyourkape.com, talking about blog post frequency. So, it’s not surprising that it has also been the year with the most views (2019 was not even close). In previous years, the first part of my Instant Coffee series was my most viewed post. This year, by a landslide, it has been “My (unqualified) thoughts about the Timemore Chestnut C2 Grinder” which was only published this June 2022.

Like a lot of people, I have only been religiously brewing coffee at home because of the stay at home order due to the pandemic. I had only been using the Timemore C2 by less than 2 months when I wrote that and I just legit wanted to post content. The reception, most probably, was because a lot of people have been considering upgrading from a cheap(er) grinder to the Timemore C2. There are also some people who are looking to buy an entry-level grinder, have heard about the Timemore C2, and read the post after reading the actual qualified review by Coffee Chronicler. Of course, me writing Timemore C2 over-and-over again in one paragraph (4 in this one in fact) kind of also helps with SEO.

I do not aim to be considered an expert about these things, no. Calling them as “My (unqualified) thoughts about…” may seem to be a cop out (and maybe it is, playing it safe?) but it’s also telling potential readers outright that I have no qualifications whatsoever that will make these thoughts/reviews the gold standard for anything. I am not saying that because I am unqualified that you all should go easy on me, I’m publishing my opinion and my aim is for people to consider that but also know it’s not a trained professional you got it from.

Look, if getting coffee equipment above the price range of the Timemore C2 is what motivates you to drink kape responsibly, then go ahead (provided you can afford it). If you buy the equipment but have to end up buying the most awful of coffee, you have to change. If you can’t afford anything beyond the Timemore C2, you are fine, focus more on how to brew better using it.

I will be upgrading from the Timemore C2 grinder some time in the future (it’s an inevitability) and plenty more coffee equipment will be purchased. I’ve recently posted in my IG stories about my purchase of a Fellow Stagg EKG, one of the Kettles I was thinking about when I posted this, and we’ll talk about that in a future post. Will the “unqualified thoughts” ever become “qualified reviews”? Who can tell, really?
